Ben has sold 2 homes for us. He made sure every single thing went right. His experience, hard work, and excellent connections ensured the best outcome for us all. I cannot emphasize just how much he did for us during both sales. When my mom died, he sold her home taking so much pressure off of us. He is truly the best realtor and person anyone could hope for!
Ben is the best. I've benefitted from his deep knowledge, attention to detail, support, and responsiveness. It's wonderful to have such an excellent guide when making a big life decision like buying a house. I can't say enough about how helpful he has been.
With Appreciation,
Elena Cole
We feel so fortunate that we were referred to Ben and Meridee for the sale of our single family rental property which included some challenges. We could not have asked for a better team and I echo the another reviewer who says they go above and beyond. Getting the property ready required many talents and between them, they filled a variety of roles. We were amazed at how much time Ben spent on site! Their efforts added a lot to the final sale price. Their advice and support was top notch. Communication and attention to detail were exceptional. It was a pleasure to work with them both and I can't imagine bettor realtors.
Ben Levine and his colleague Meridee Carter recently helped me sell my childhood home. I felt extremely well advised and taken care of by both of them throughout the process. They offered expert guidance of what repairs and improvements I should consider doing to prepare the house for sale that would make the property attractive to a wide swath of buyers, and what changes I should not do because they were unlikely to be a good investment for me as a seller. They helped me prepare accurate disclosures and talked me through their recommended list price, showing me the details of their market analysis. They always clarified that the decisions of what to do were mine; I never felt pressured to do anything. They lined up all the work I chose to do, meeting the workers at the house so that I didn't have to take time off of work for those appointments. They both spent a lot of time at the property, including sprucing up the gardens and creatively addressing some "charming" areas of the house. They were always responsive by phone, text and email, and proactively sent me updates often. Their communication with me was clear, even-toned and compassionate (they knew selling my family home was bittersweet). There approach and communication style helped keep me calm through the multi-stage process. We received multiple strong offers and are very happy with the resulting sale price! I would work with either (or both!) of them again in a heartbeat!
Ben was a great partner for us in the search for our home. Always patient, thoughtful and ready to meet us wherever we were in our path. He never pushed us to get to the finish line when we weren't ready, always making it clear that his priority was us getting a home we felt was right for us. He helped us understand what mattered and what didn't when we were considering places, and helping us decipher paperwork and disclosures. He was always patient about giving us the information we needed to make informed decisions. When we came to him with places and ideas he would readily come back with his own reflections based on his expertise and his understanding of what mattered to us. Overall a great experience working with him, we knew he could help us figure this out, even though it would take some time (and creative thinking).
Ben was a great partner for us in this search. We came to him as a family who really couldn't afford what we wanted and yet he took us on. He didn't push us to get to the finish line when we weren't ready, always making it clear that he wasn't in a hurry, that his priority was us getting a home we felt was right for us. I worked with Ben and Meridee Carter to sell my house. They were both a pleasure to work with. Ben is friendly, patient, and professional and had great instincts determining the right price point, and in knowing how the house could appeal to buyers. He even spent time helping to tidy up the yard. Both he and Meridee went above and beyond, which may help explain why we got multiple offers, all above asking, despite the recent downturn in the market.I checked the stats for my town - there have typically been around a dozen sfr's/multi-families for sale at any one time, but in the last three months, only one other house sold. It was much newer than mine, had been updated recently, and had about 50% more square feet...but it sold for 25K less than mine. All the other properties on the market are just sitting. These results speak for themselves - this 5-star rating was well deserved.
My wife and I first started working with Ben in April of 2019. At that time, we were just exploring the possibility of purchasing a home in Berkeley. Ben provided really good feedback and consistently kept us updated with new listings that became more and more relevant over time. He read thru the disclosure, would look for major issues. When we did decide to make several offers, his projection for the selling price was so accurate. This is the third home I purchased and my other agents were never close to Ben in his predictions. The first offer we didn't follow his advice on price and were blown out of the water. Fast forward to summer 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. A showing came up that didn't follow the norms for the East Bay market. We followed his gentle pestering to see the property. We ended up seeing all the potential and made an offer in the middle of Covid. We ended up getting the house and have now been lucky enough to have a multilevel home with a huge flat backyard in North Berkeley at a great price.
Context: Ben helped me and my partner buy our first home in the East Bay. We closed in June of 2020, in the midst of C19. We worked with Ben and his partner Celia for 9 months. Ben suggested the right price for our dream home and the right window to go for it. We got it. Review: I'll keep this short and sweet. If you are looking for someone you can completely, unreservedly trust to help you buy the right home in the East Bay, work with Ben. You will not feel like his customer or his client; you will feel like his partner. Your emails will get responded to promptly, you will feel comfortable letting yourself fall in love with a new house, knowing that Ben will bring you back down to earth with any potential red flags that come up, and you will hear him say 'that is the most I would let you pay for this house.' Ben will take the time to understand your priorities and then work tirelessly to find the right house that meets your needs. If you are still on the fence, please ask Ben for further references from us!
Ben Levin helped my husband and I buy our first home and was very patient with us throughout the whole process. Believe it our not, Ben helped us for 3 years to find the perfect place that we felt comfortable with and loved!! Ben explained everything in detail and when we did not understand he took the time to make sure we understood everything fully, whether it was the process of buying a house to what bolts and retrofitting a foundation meant. This made everything less stressful for us and we actually enjoyed the house buying process. He was also responsive to phone calls and emails in a very timely manner where we felt that Ben was always there to help us. Ben read many disclosures for us and would summarize things that needed to be fixed right away, things to consider and estimated how much this would all cost us. He also had an eye for detail and would notice bolts in the foundation, electrical wiring updates, where we could renovate to make the space more efficient and other things. Ben went above and beyond to research the area we were looking to buy and had well informed insight on what the property would sell for. He also knew lenders that knew the area we were looking at to give accurate appraisals and such. Ben also has a lot of connections with the community so if we needed a quote for something he would know a reputable place to go to. Ben was honest, which is what we liked most about him. Even when my husband and I wanted to put an offer he told us his honest opinion which was that the property was a money pit and that we should reconsider. I feel like most agents just want to make money and encourage any offer you want to submit. But Ben really cares about where you end up buying a home and wants to make sure it is a good fit for you and your family. Ben is super friendly and approachable and we are going to miss talking to him! I do have to say, even though we officially got our house, Ben has checked up on us and still gave us advice. So we hope to stay in touch with him! We really recommend Ben as your realtor! And are so happy with how things turned out for us!
