We asked a very knowledgeable, experienced and successful (i.e. you're good or your gone in real estate) retired realtor for a realtor recommendation. The big qualifier was the fact that we were leaving the area almost overnight. We had to find someone who could handle ALL the obstacles in preparing a home for sale WITHOUT our active assistance: from having the contacts to engage quality contractors to replace/refurbish and repair items, to dealing with our HOA, to staging-pricing-showing-following up-collaborating with peers- and negotiating.
Sounds easy. It isn't. The answer: Beth Goldsmith. Again, we asked our friend "who can we hire that we can just turn it over, and know that the job will get done...with the best results possible?"

Our home needed a major facelift to sell well, and thanks to the recommendation from a friend, we may have ended up with the best realtor in Virginia. Beth Goldsmith led the renovation on our tired property after we had moved out of state; she coordinated all the subs, constantly kept up great communication, designed a beautiful reno that touched all surfaces in the house, and did it without breaking the bank. If we had sold the house as it was, we would have lost money on the deal, but even with the reno and carrying costs, we made over asking and were able to purchase our new home while still making a profit. Her knowledge of real estate in general and of the Richmond area in particular is top-notch. We can't recommend Beth highly enough.

Beth is absolutely amazing! We worked with both her and Catherine Stewart in her office and had an incredibly smooth experience. Beth and Catherine have a wealth of knowledge about the area, and it really showed throughout the process. We bought in the toughest market in recent memory, and they stuck with us through some crazy negotiations amongst as many as 20 competing bids. Beth’s experience and Catherine’s tenacity gave us an obvious leg-up on the competition and their attention to detail saved us a substantial amount at the closing table, which we didn’t think was even possible in a total seller’s market. On top of that the entire team at the Long & Foster office (Financing, insurance, etc) assisted and made our first-time home buying experience easy. Thank you!!
Beth is an outstanding Agent with a ton of experience. She did a fantastic job of guiding me through the home-buying process. Her referral to her lender saved me over $1,000 and I was eventually able to purchase my dream home for my dream price thanks to Beth. She is my primary recommendation for agents in Richmond. She worked very hard to help get me exactly where I wanted.
Beth is amazing. She takes the time to get to know you and figure out what you are looking for. She is an incredible resource of knowledge about the area and about the houses and processes. My wife and I were working with Beth for almost a year. We were discouraged but Beth kept showing us houses. She knew us so well that she could tell us whether we would like a house before we got there. She became a part of our family. We finally found a house that fit our disparate styles and Beth helped us secure the home. She was there in the crawlspace before and after. We trust Beth and knew she would look out for us. The best part is, she is always there to answer even questions that seem silly. We have learned so much from her. If you need an agent, Beth is the one. She'll see you through and won't let you give up. She is the best. I would trust her to see your best interests protected.
Beth was so great to work with while selling our house that we decided to utilize her services when purchasing a new house as well. During the selling process, Beth was great at keeping a steady flow of traffic through the house. She provided great marketing materials and priced the house well. When we did get the right offer, Beth handled the negotiations and we got our asking price for the house. We saw many (many many) houses when trying to find the right one to buy. Beth was extremely patient. Most importantly, she was knowledgeable about every aspect of buying a home - including warning signs to look for. Many times she pointed out hidden issues that we would not normally have considered. Ultimately we found the right house and once again Beth handled all the negotiations expertly. I hope we'll be in our new house for a while, but if we do move we'll be calling Beth again.

Beth provided superior assistance to our family as we relocated to the Ashland, VIrginia area from Virginia's Eastern Shore in 2013. We were looking for many special requirements. We wanted a log home on acreage. She was great during an extended search, exhibiting excellent knowledge for listings over a large geographical area. She was always available for showings and left no question unanswered. Her negotiating skills were superior and saved us in time, trouble, and money. The bottom line: When we age out of our wonderful home, we will absolutely use Beth to help us transition into our new life. No one could do a better job.
