Moving across town, or from state to state, can be a traumatic experience, but moving from the mainland to Kauai is a whole different story. From the time my wife Rhonda and I met Jim Fiore, the transition was as smooth as possible. First of all, Jim understood the type of property Rhonda and I were looking to buy and why we were making this selection. He presented us a number of houses in the areas we selected across the island, explaining to us the lifestyle and cultural aspects of each location. Kauai residents take pride in their local communities from the North Shore to the South and West Shores. We learned each location has its own special way of doing things and its own lifestyle; its own ‘Ohana.’ As Jim showed us homes from each area on Kauai, we could get a real feel of what life would be like living in these communities. Jim explained how the weather varies greatly from one side of the island to the other, and what to expect at each season. Secondly, Jim communicated to us the obstacles that we could face transferring our furniture, valuables and automobiles to our new home. Unlike most home purchases on the mainland, Kauai home purchases may include everything within the home. Most of the time, this includes furniture, art work, kitchen utensils (pots and pans) and in some cases even a car. This is so the sellers and buyers don’t have to absorb the shipping costs of personal items back and forth between the island and the mainland. Therefore, you bring very little of what you have had from your previous home. He also detailed out how to plan the shipping of our valuables and cars with the shipping vendors so that our “stuff” arrived about the same time we wanted to move into our new home. An extremely important piece of the transition process. Thirdly, Jim was extremely helpful in completing the walk through of the property. With the pandemic in full swing, we were not able to come to the walk through in person. Jim gave us a visual walk through of the property. He also coordinated with the seller, and contractor, minor repairs that needed to be made to the property prior to the final settlement. Finally, Jim made us feel welcome at our new home here on the island of Kauai. He introduced us to the culture, gave us an extreme detailed lay of the land, and provided us with some extremely helpful tips on how to adjust to our new island life. In the end, Jim found us the home of our dreams, helped us with the transition to the island of our dreams and became a lifelong friend. Besides helping families find the right house, Jim Fiore shows that he cares about putting families in a home and a community where they can thrive. Rhonda and I have come to know Jim well even after our home purchase and know that he exemplifies the true meaning of Aloha!
