Back in 2017, Oakland real estate was hot and my wife and I were looking to buy our home. We were working with an agent who kept discouraging us, saying we couldn't afford to buy in Oakland and our pre-approval wasn't enough since we didn't have 20% to put down. After making a couple of offers well over list and failing to get accepted, I starting thinking I needed a new agent. Derrick was the selling agent at a property we looked at and I grabbed his card. I called him that evening, told him what our experience had been, and asked him, is it true I can't afford to buy in the Town I've lived in since '96. He said I can get you a place for 3% down. We put 10% down and paid less than asking and Derrick live up to his word in every way. I think the thing I like most is his former lawyer attention to the law and the details. Yes, Derrick can give too many details at times but I'm never uninformed about anything after asking him about it and can make the necessary decisions with confidence. We trust Derrick and that's why we called him when we decided it's time to leave Oakland and city living and find that place in the burbs that we can call home. Derrick not only did everything necessary to sell our house during the now not so hot times in Oakland (I refused to pay for staging so Derrick had it virtually staged! And it looked great!), he also went above and beyond in helping us find and purchase our new home in Fairfield. We're really happy and now that I'm busy installing a fence around the new pool to keep the grandkids we're raising safe, I had to take this time to write something for Derrick. We couldn't ask for a better agent and friend. Thank you Derrick.
