Claire Hennessy is asuperb real estate agent. This sweet, unassuming woman is actually a fireball in terms of her devotion to her work. I met her for the first time when I was overwhelmed dealing with twelve years of detritus and fixing the wear and tear of three young children. She just walked up to me as I was throwing out garbage and explained she was a real estate agent and would be happy to sell our house for us. I told her it would be months before the house was in any condition to sell, and took her business card. She returned a week later with a comprehensive brochure she had made. She had checked town records regarding the houses history and specs, and had comps of all the homes in the area. Then she told me, whatever I decide, there were some outstanding issues with the municipality, (a complete surprise to me) which had to be resolved before I could sell the house. Months later, the house was ready go on the market. We interviewed Claire and two other agents, all from very reputable firms, all very competent. Claires estimate of what the house could sell for was over $50,000 higher than the other agents. She was also much more enthusiastic, and knew the neighborhood very well. We hired her. I was totally unprepared for the lengths she would go to in order to get the best price for our house. She spent hours dealing with municipal clerks, past contractors, the gardener. She helped us get rid of things, even putting out the trash on occasion. She brought flowers, knickknacks, guest towels, etc., to give a homey atmosphere to a house without furniture. She put a sculpture under a tree on the front lawn, hung drapes in the living room, brought over deck furniture, swept away leaves and put a table and umbrella on an upstairs balcony, and got rid of an unsightly old antenna on the roof. She checked the house daily, and took care of problems, supervising the technicians who came to fix them. (We live over half an hour away.) The advertising was first class: She hired a photographer (with a drone!) who made the house look like a palace, and had a professional appraiser draw up a floor plan, all at no cost to us. We had many offers, and took the highest one, which was very close to the asking price. If you want to sell your house for top dollar and low angst, go with Claire Hennessy. Youll be happy you did.
