Unfortunately, we were not satisfied with the service provided by Rebecca Obaya for the refinance of our loan. We initially reached out to her with a question about making a large lump sum payment towards our existing loan after the sale of our previous home. She gave us the information we needed but suggested refinancing over recasting. We agreed. and thinking that it would be easier to continue with her over starting from scratch with a new loan officer we began the refinance application. Over the course of the process, we had several issues with Rebecca. I will list them below. -We were given one interest rate but she didn't lock it in at that time. When she did go to lock it in it was much higher, higher that the rate of the current rate we had at the time. When we questioned it she tried to tell us that since we planned to pay the loan off a few years early it didn't matter. It did to us. -She had a lot of trouble sending us documents for signatures over e-mail. I would receive them, my husband would not. We had to help her trouble shoot the issue. When we suggested it was because she had never sent him the release to sign documents digitally like she had sent me, she did not agree. A short time later he received the release form then began to receive the required documents. -Rebecca said since we were staying with CMG for the refinance, we would receive lender credits to lower our closing costs. We did not. When we asked her about them she said we no longer qualified for them but that was never relayed to us. -Throughout the whole process I asked her many times for the final hard numbers so we would know the total amount of our closing costs. We never received them. Whenever she sent us new paperwork, I would ask her if these were the hard numbers and she would say no, I'll get them to you. She had many excuses for this, needing us to lock a rate in, waiting for other people, submitting paperwork, etc.. I have text messages to prove this. -Our closing had to be rescheduled twice because the paperwork was not ready. But when it was ready we were told we needed to close quickly because our rate was about to expire. -We did not receive the final Closing Disclosure until closing day at the Title Company's table. They gave us time there to look it over before signing and helped explain it. Once again our closing costs had gone up. We ended up paying almost double in closing costs than what we had been quoted. Rebecca did say the quote was just an estimate but that is a very large amount to be mistaken by. These are just the things I can think of off the top of my head. We are glad that it is over and done with and everything has been taken care of but it was a very bumpy road in getting to the finish line. Even now, we have not received any communication from her concerning our loan. Our last communication with her was from me letting her know that we had gotten the actual closing scheduled. She thumbs upped the message and we have not heard from her since. We would not recommend Rebecca Obaya to anyone.
