Working with Vanessa was a great experience. We’d had significant housing disappointments in our past and so we came into the home buying process feeling skeptical and snakebit. Vanessa was patient with us. She listened to and was sensitive to our situation, concerns, and constraints. We toured multiple homes and put in multiple offers – Vanessa was patient throughout the process. At one point, having given up hope that we could find or afford our dream home, we prepared an offer for a house we could “make work.” Vanessa supported our decision, but also asked multiple times, “Are you sure this is the right home for you?” It was a subtle nudge. However, we decided to plow ahead, made an offer, and it didn’t work out. Afterward, Vanessa prompted us with another gentle nudge in the right direction, “Would you consider making an offer on this home?” – a home we had toured before but ruled out as too grand and too expensive for us. Vanessa had been keeping tabs on the home and knew the seller had recently reduced the price. In consultation with Vanessa and our lender we realized we could afford the home. We submitted an offer and went under contract. I’m still pinching myself because I absolutely did not believe people who would say “The right home is waiting for you.” Nope. That had not been our reality. But, somehow, we ended up in our dream home – a home that is much better than we envisioned for ourselves. I credit Vanessa with having the patience, vision, and thoughtfulness to guide us through our home buying journey.
